Chief Minister Conducts Aerial Survey of Disaster-Affected Areas in Champawat, Reviews Relief Operations

Champawat: Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Champawat district today for a one-day tour, where he conducted an aerial survey of disaster-affected areas. He inspected regions including Saryu Valley, Kali Valley, Pancheshwar Valley, Rausal, and Tamli, and later held an important meeting with officials at the NHPC Guest House in Banbasa.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed relief and rescue operations in the areas affected by heavy rainfall and sought detailed information from officials about the reconstruction efforts to restore normalcy in the lives of the citizens. He also interacted with the affected citizens and listened to their problems, assuring them of all possible assistance.

The Chief Minister took stock of the repair work for damaged roads and bridges and instructed officials to take necessary steps to restore normalcy in the affected areas promptly. He stated, “Damaged roads, drinking water, and electricity lines should be restored immediately. Additionally, electricity arrangements should be ensured through solar energy by UREDA as an alternative.” He also directed the District Magistrate to ensure immediate distribution of disaster relief funds to the affected individuals and expedite the reconstruction work at war footing. Furthermore, he emphasized that officials should personally inspect the disaster-affected areas and provide all necessary facilities to the public.

The Chief Minister mentioned that, following requests to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the state has received increased disaster assistance funds, which will help accelerate relief and reconstruction efforts. In the meeting, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey informed that the blocked roads in the district have been reopened and food kits are being distributed. He mentioned that 23 rural motor roads are still closed, and work is continuously ongoing on them.

So far, a total of ₹1 crore 34 lakh 79 thousand 954 has been distributed as relief funds in the district following the disaster. The Chief Minister appealed to all officials to prioritize the resolution of public issues and ensure the timely completion of disaster relief work.

This meeting included participation from legislators, officials, and representatives from various departments, who praised the prompt relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister’s visit has instilled hope among the people of Champawat that the administration is proactive in addressing their concerns and will expedite the reconstruction efforts.
