Mujjafarnagar: At the Rampur Tiraha Martyrs’ Memorial in Muzaffarnagar, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand State Movement on their death anniversary. During the program, the Chief Minister honored the sacrifices of the martyrs and offered floral tributes. He announced that statues of each martyr from the Rampur Tiraha firing incident would be installed at the memorial site. Additionally, the statue of the late Mahavir Sharma, who donated land for the memorial, was also unveiled.
Statues to Commemorate the Sacrifices of the Martyrs
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state of Uttarakhand is the result of the sacrifices and struggles of the movement’s martyrs. Describing the Rampur Tiraha firing incident as the most painful and cruel chapter of the movement, he emphasized that the people of Uttarakhand can never forget the violence that took place on October 2, 1994. The government, he added, will further develop the martyr’s memorial to honor their sacrifice.
Special Schemes for Activists and Their Families
Chief Minister Dhami shared that the state government has implemented several welfare schemes for the activists and their families, including a 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs, a pension scheme, and free bus travel. He also noted that activists who were imprisoned or injured during the movement receive a monthly pension. The government is committed to making Uttarakhand one of the best states in the country.
Focus on Preserving State’s Culture and Identity
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of preserving Uttarakhand’s demography and identity, stating that the government has enacted a strict anti-conversion law and is working to introduce stringent land laws soon. Under the Uniform Civil Code, equal rights are being provided to all citizens. He mentioned that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is diligently working to make Uttarakhand a model state.
