Nainital: Ahead of Diwali, District Magistrate (DM) Lalit Mohan Rayal has issued strict directives to the Excise Department to intensify inspections and ensure that illegal liquor sales are completely curbed across the district. The DM emphasized that no case of illicit alcohol trade should be reported under any circumstances, and that each Excise Inspector must carry out continuous enforcement drives in their respective areas.
Daily Reports and Continuous Monitoring
DM Rayal has made it mandatory for officials to submit daily reports of their inspection drives, enabling continuous monitoring of the situation. He also directed that no complaints of overrating or overpricing should arise from the government-licensed liquor shops. To prevent such violations, the Excise Department has been instructed to maintain strict supervision over all shops operating under official tenders.
Zero Tolerance for Negligence
Issuing a stern warning, the DM stated that if any complaint regarding overrating or illegal liquor sale surfaces from any area, immediate disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned officials and staff. “Negligence at any level will not be tolerated,” he said, adding that departmental action will be ensured against those found guilty.
Transparency and Public Trust
DM Rayal further remarked that such complaints tarnish the image of both the government and the administration. Therefore, the department must work with utmost vigilance, transparency, and responsibility. He directed officials to promptly and effectively address all complaints received from the public to ensure continued public trust in the administration.
Fair and Honest Governance
Highlighting the government’s commitment to fair governance, DM Rayal stated, “The intent of the government is to provide impartial and honest administration to the people.” He warned that any officer or employee showing indifference towards this campaign will face strict disciplinary measures. Following the DM’s directives, the Excise Department has launched a special checking campaign across the entire district.
