On the 200th Martyrdom Day, Chief Minister Pays Tribute to Martyrs, Promises National Monument Recognition

Dehradun: A special event was organized today in Kunjha Bahadurpur, Roorkee, in memory of Raja Vijay Singh, General Kalyan Singh, and 152 other brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 1822-24 revolution. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the event and paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs. He remarked that such supreme sacrifices made before India’s independence are truly inspirational, and future generations should draw inspiration from them. He emphasized that independence was achieved after immense struggle and sacrifices, which should always be remembered.

Martyrdom Site to Receive Recognition as National Memorial
The Chief Minister announced that the state government would make every effort to have this historic martyrdom site recognized as a national monument. He added that the sacrifice of the martyrs would also be incorporated into the educational curriculum so that the new generation could learn about this glorious history. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is honoring all unsung heroes, patriots, and martyrs who deserve their rightful place and recognition. The Chief Minister also highlighted the state government’s exemplary work to honor and support the families of brave soldiers.

Appreciation for Committee’s Work and Book Launch
The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the Raja Vijay Singh Martyr Memorial and Girls’ Education Promotion Committee, recognizing their commendable work in bringing the story of the martyrs to light. During the event, he also launched a book detailing the lives and sacrifices of the martyrs from the 1822-24 revolution, sharing their inspiring stories with the public.

The event saw the presence of former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, MLAs Pradeep Batra, Mamta Rakesh, District Panchayat President Kiran Chaudhary, District Magistrate Karmendra Singh, SSP Pramendra Doval, former MLA Deshraj Karnwal, Minister of State Vinay Rohila, along with many local representatives and a large gathering of citizens.
