Uttarakhand: In a major step towards empowering the youth of Uttarakhand, the state government has announced free pre-recruitment training for those aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces as Agniveers. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare has prepared the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this initiative.
Eligibility Criteria and Key Conditions
As per the information released, candidates must be either permanent residents or originally from Uttarakhand. They must also be studying or serving in any institution within the state. To qualify for the training, applicants are required to have passed the High School Examination with at least 45% marks overall and a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. Additionally, the minimum age for participation in the training program has been set at 16 years.
Chief Minister’s Vision for State’s Military Legacy
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the decision aligns with Uttarakhand’s rich military tradition and the state’s significant contribution to the nation’s defense forces. The government aims to strengthen this legacy by preparing youth through pre-recruitment training, enabling them to perform with excellence during Agniveer selection and service. The CM further mentioned that Agniveers completing their service period will receive reservation in state government jobs, offering them future employment security.
Training Rules and Upcoming Launch
Under the newly prepared SOP, candidates must submit a health certificate before joining the training. They are also required to attend training sessions in sports attire, including a T-shirt, shorts, socks, and sports shoes. The SOP strictly prohibits tattoos or any kind of permanent unnatural marks on the body.
The free Agniveer pre-recruitment training is expected to begin soon across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, marking a significant move towards youth empowerment and national service readiness.
