Haldwani: In view of the upcoming Diwali festival, Uttarakhand Roadways is gearing up to handle the expected rush of passengers by increasing bus services on key routes such as Almora, Tanakpur, Pithoragarh, Ramnagar, Badrinath, Delhi, and Dehradun. The department hopes that the festive season will bring a boost in revenue after a week of reduced passenger numbers.
Special Campaign from October 16 to 26
According to the Roadways administration, a special operational campaign will be conducted from October 16 to October 26. During this period, additional staff will be deployed to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience while travelling. Employees working extra shifts during the festival will also receive a special incentive of ₹1500 for their service.
Routes to See Increased Frequency
In-charge Regional Manager R.S. Bisht informed that bus services on high-demand routes including Delhi, Dehradun, Tanakpur, Pithoragarh, Ramnagar, Badrinath, and Almora will be strengthened. The Roadways department expects a significant increase in passenger flow during Diwali, compared to the past few weeks when several buses were running nearly empty.
Expectation of Improved Revenue
After facing a temporary dip in income due to low ridership, the department is optimistic that the festive travel rush will help in improving revenue and operational performance. Officials stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a safe, convenient, and timely travel experience for passengers during the festive period.
