Dehradun, October 2025: With the festive season of Diwali and Bhai Dooj approaching, passenger traffic in Uttarakhand is witnessing a sharp increase. Railways and bus services are under pressure as train waiting lists have exceeded 200 passengers, while online bus ticket bookings are completely full.
Extended Holidays Lead to High Travel Demand
This year, the holiday period from October 19 to October 23 has prompted travelers to book train and bus tickets well in advance. The surge in demand has left many seats in Volvo, Super Deluxe, and AC buses fully occupied. Only ordinary buses currently have available tickets, and bookings for these buses have already begun.
200 Extra Buses to Ease Passenger Load
In response to the rising passenger load, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has decided to operate 200 additional buses during the festive period. Kranti Singh, General Manager of UTC, stated that buses currently under maintenance will also be repaired and deployed on key routes to accommodate the holiday travelers.
Travel Advisory for Passengers
Authorities have advised passengers not to plan travel without confirmed tickets. Travelers are encouraged to book their seats in advance to avoid inconvenience during the busy festive period.
The additional services are expected to significantly ease travel and provide much-needed relief for passengers returning home to celebrate Diwali and Bhai Dooj with their families.
