Haldwani: Tuesday brought a new wave of relief for the residents of Haldwani as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the much-awaited Haldwani City Bus Service. The Chief Minister flagged off the first set of buses from the Circuit House premises, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the city’s transport system.
A Step Towards Modern Urban Transport
During the launch, Chief Minister Dhami stated that the introduction of the city bus service is a significant step toward the city’s development. He emphasized that the new service will provide citizens with affordable, accessible, and safe public transportation.
He further added that this initiative would help reduce traffic congestion, control pollution, and promote energy conservation within the city. “Our government aims to establish a modern, eco-friendly, and secure transport system in every town of Uttarakhand so that people can have a better commuting experience,” he said.
Phased Implementation Across Major Routes
According to officials from the Transport Department, the city bus service will be launched in phases on key routes across Haldwani. This move will particularly benefit local residents, students, and working professionals by providing a reliable daily commuting option.
Dignitaries Present at the Event
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including MLA Banshidhar Bhagat (Kaladhungi), MLA Ram Singh Keda (Bhimtal), BJP District President Pratap Bisht, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, IG Riddhima Agarwal, and Chief Development Officer Anamika, along with other officials and public representatives.
With this launch, Haldwani has taken a progressive step towards sustainable urban mobility, ensuring that public transport becomes not only convenient but also environmentally responsible.
