Champawat: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Wednesday, laid the foundation stone and performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the “Way Side Amenities” project in Amodi, Champawat. The project, costing approximately ₹1.60 crore, is being developed under the Rural Economic Advancement Project (REAP) in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce and Marketing Board, Rudrapur.
The Chief Minister said that this initiative marks an important step towards realizing the vision of “Adarsh Champawat” (Model Champawat), which aims to give new momentum to tourism, the local economy, and employment generation.
Boost to Tourism and Rural Economy
In his address, CM Dhami highlighted that the primary goal of this project is to promote tourism activities in the region, provide essential facilities to travelers, and create employment opportunities for local residents.
“Our vision is to make Champawat not only spiritually and naturally rich but also a model for self-reliance and job creation,” the Chief Minister stated.
Center to Be Equipped with Modern Facilities
The Way Side Amenities Center will feature comfortable resting areas for travelers, modern toilets, drinking water facilities, and refreshment points. In addition, special counters will be set up for the sale of local products, handicrafts, and organic goods.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is strengthening the “Vocal for Local” initiative, and such projects will help local products gain both recognition and market access.
Towards Realizing the Dream of ‘Adarsh Champawat’
CM Dhami reiterated that developing Champawat as a ‘Model Constituency’ is one of the government’s top priorities. He said that such initiatives will not only enhance tourism but also create avenues for self-employment among the youth.
“The initiative launched in Amodi is an inspiring step towards the holistic development of Champawat. Our goal is that in the coming years, every village should be known for its unique identity and specialty,” he added.
Local Enthusiasm and Participation
The foundation stone ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from local villagers, public representatives, and officials. The villagers extended a traditional welcome to the Chief Minister and expressed their gratitude for initiating this development project.
