Flower Sweets Delight Visitors at Vasantotsav 2026 in Dehradun

Vasantotsav: Flower Spring Festival: Dehradun: Uttarakhand: Inspired by spring spirit and floral healing, the three day Vasantotsav 2026 at Lok Bhavan in Dehradun became a lively centre of flavours colours and culture. The festival is part of the annual celebration of spring with vibrant flower exhibitions cultural programmes and innovative displays that draw visitors from across the region.

Festival Inauguration And Theme

The Vasantotsav 2026 was inaugurated by the Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh Retd at the Lok Bhavan premises on February 27 with ministers officials and the public present. This year the festival theme is Floral Healing Nature ll Path to Well Being, emphasising the therapeutic power of flowers and nature and how greenery promotes physical and mental wellness. The event features flower exhibitions, rhythmic yoga performances, martial arts demonstrations and a painting competition encouraging community participation.

Flower Sweets Centre Of Attraction

One of the festival highlights this year was the display of flower sweets and jellies created from various blooms. Made using petals of mustard, rose, mol, kedarpatti, radish flowers and other Himalayan blossoms, chefs displayed more than thirty five types of sweets and floral jellies that delighted visitors with their taste and presentation. Many food lovers appreciated the innovative use of flowers and millets in traditional and modern sweet recipes at the festival stalls.

Floral Exhibition And Cultural Programmes

Alongside the sweets and food displays a grand floral exhibition showcased a wide variety of flower species arranged in creative themes emphasising nature beauty and horticultural diversity. Participants set up over three hundred stalls featuring horticultural equipment organic products local crafts and plant varieties. Cultural programmes including rhythmic yoga by organisations for the empowerment of persons with visual disabilities and wushu demonstrations by children added to the festive atmosphere.

Community Engagement And Economic Message

The Governor highlighted the economic potential of floriculture and horticulture for Uttarakhand by creating income and employment opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs. The festival also included displays by self help groups youth and women showcasing their products and creativity linking traditional agricultural products like honey aromatic items and millets with new markets and technology.
