Dehradun: Children from Devbhoomi are excelling not only in academics and startups but also in adventure sports. Daughters have particularly made a name for themselves in this field. In this sequence, today we will talk about Anamika Bisht from Uttarkashi district, who recently successfully ascended Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. Mount Elbrus stands at a height of 5642 meters.

A Passion for Trekking

Anamika Bisht hails from the village of Barsali in Uttarkashi. She had a passion for trekking since childhood. Her father, Anil Singh Bisht, and mother, Vijay Lakshmi Bisht, always supported her interest. Anamika Bisht, along with a team of seven members, set off from Uttarkashi on August 15 to conquer Mount Elbrus. They all reached Moscow on August 17.

Journey to the Base Camp

It took them two days to travel from Moscow to the base camp of Mount Elbrus. It was not easy at all. From August 20 to August 23, they practiced in the base camp area and reached the summit camp. On August 24, at 1 PM Indian time, Anamika, along with two other companions, Lieutenant Romil from Delhi and Gayatri from Bengaluru, successfully ascended the peak.

Overcoming Adverse Weather Conditions

The weather there was extremely adverse, and because of this, four of their companions could not conquer Mount Elbrus. Climbing amidst temperatures of minus 20 degrees and icy winds blowing at a speed of 90 km per hour was the most challenging part. This daughter of Uttarakhand overcame this challenge and inspired millions of youth in the state.

Training and Recognition

Anamika completed her basic mountaineering course from NIM Uttarkashi, and her advanced course from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling. She also did the Search and Rescue course from NIM. Along with NIM, she ascended unnamed peaks in the Gaumukh region under the Atal campaign. Following Anamika’s success, Yamunotri MLA Kedar Singh Rawat, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, and NIM’s Principal Colonel Amit Bisht congratulated her on her successful ascent.
