Uttarakhand Jobs | Global Employment | Skill Development: Senior officials representing India in Jamaica, Ethiopia, and Zambia met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence on Monday. Discussions focused on overseas employment opportunities for Uttarakhand’s youth, the demand for skilled personnel, and the provision of necessary training.
The meeting was attended by Mayank Joshi (High Commissioner to Jamaica), Devesh Uttam (Ambassador to Ethiopia), and Alok Ranjan Jha (High Commissioner to Zambia).
Emphasis on Training Aligned with Overseas Job Demands
The Chief Minister directed officials to gather information, through continuous coordination with Indian missions regarding sectors with high employment potential and the specific needs for skilled workers in various countries.
He stated that, in addition to vocational skills, the youth of Uttarakhand should receive training in relevant foreign languages to meet international requirements. This would enhance their prospects for securing better employment opportunities abroad.
Potential Opportunities in Specific Sectors
High Commissioner to Zambia, Alok Ranjan Jha, highlighted the need for skilled human resources in the country. He noted that opportunities for Uttarakhand’s youth could be explored in the education and agriculture sectors and offered to provide detailed information regarding these areas to the state government.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner to Jamaica, Mayank Joshi, pointed out employment potential in tourism, healthcare, and agriculture, specifically noting a demand for trained nursing staff.
Ambassador to Ethiopia, Devesh Uttam, outlined employment prospects in management and logistics, as well as in the pharmaceutical and floriculture sectors.
Boosting Uttarakhand’s Homestay Model
Chief Minister Dhami also highlighted Uttarakhand’s homestay model, suggesting that visiting international delegations could be introduced to the state’s successful homestay initiatives.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on promoting Uttarakhand’s potential in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, industry, Ayurveda, and wellness on an international scale. Action Plan to be Formulated for Youth. The Chief Minister stated that there is no lack of talent or potential among the youth of Uttarakhand. What is needed is to provide them with skills and training aligned with global demands.
He directed officials to assess the demand for skilled workers in various countries and formulate an effective action plan for training the youth. The government aims to disseminate information regarding overseas employment opportunities to the youth and connect them to these opportunities by providing the necessary training.
Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu and Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey were also present at the meeting.
