Helicopter service Uttarakhand, Char Dham travel, Kedarnath Badrinath: For thousands of devotees heading towards the sacred shrines of Uttarakhand, travel has now become quicker and more convenient. Helicopter services from Jolly Grant in Dehradun to Kedarnath and Badrinath have officially started, offering pilgrims a faster and more comfortable way to complete their spiritual journey in the Himalayas.
Heli Service Begins with Strong Demand
The helicopter service commenced from Jolly Grant helipad with the first flight taking off early morning carrying devotees to both Kedarnath and Badrinath. On the very first day, around 16 pilgrims were flown to the two shrines, marking the beginning of this year’s operations.
The response to the service has been overwhelming. Bookings for helicopter rides have already been filled up till May 20, reflecting the huge demand among devotees who prefer a quicker alternative to the long and challenging road journey.
Operated by Rudraksh Aviation, the MI 17 helicopter is conducting regular flights between Jolly Grant and the two dhams. Under normal weather conditions, the helicopter will operate twice a day, allowing around 40 passengers to travel daily.
Seasonal Operation Plan
The helicopter service will continue till mid June before being paused due to the monsoon season. After the rains, operations are expected to resume again around mid September, ensuring continued access for pilgrims during the yatra period.
This service is especially beneficial for elderly devotees and those who cannot undertake long treks or road journeys. It also allows pilgrims to complete darshan of both Kedarnath and Badrinath in a single day, making the spiritual journey more accessible and time efficient.
Boost to Religious Tourism in Uttarakhand
The introduction of such services is expected to significantly boost religious tourism in Uttarakhand. With improved connectivity and convenience, more devotees are likely to visit the Char Dham, strengthening the local economy and supporting tourism related livelihoods.
As the Char Dham Yatra gains momentum, helicopter services from Jolly Grant are proving to be a game changer. By reducing travel time and improving accessibility, this initiative ensures that devotion is no longer limited by distance or physical challenges, making the journey to the Himalayas smoother for all.
