Uttarakhand News, Greenfield Expressway, Nainital Travel: Travelling from Lucknow to Nainital may soon become much easier and faster. The National Highways Authority of India has prepared a proposal for a nearly 100 kilometre long Greenfield Expressway between Bareilly and Haldwani. After the construction of this expressway, the travel time from Lucknow to Nainital is expected to reduce to nearly five hours. At present, the journey usually takes around eight to nine hours.
Four lane expressway aims to reduce traffic congestion
The proposed four lane expressway is being planned to reduce traffic jams on the Bareilly Haldwani route and provide a safer and smoother travel experience for passengers. Currently, travellers face long delays due to damaged roads and heavy traffic, especially during tourist season.
According to NHAI, an interchange will also be developed in Bareilly which will directly connect the expressway with the Delhi Moradabad Bareilly highway corridor. This will make travel easier for people coming from Delhi NCR, western Uttar Pradesh and Rohilkhand region towards Nainital and Kumaon areas.
Plan to connect future corridor as well
The report states that there is also a plan to connect this expressway with the proposed Shamli Gorakhpur corridor in the future. If implemented, connectivity between eastern Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand is expected to improve further.
The Greenfield Expressway will be equipped with modern technology and green energy based facilities. Toll facilities will also be introduced on the route. The project is being considered important for boosting tourism and trade activities between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
