Spread the love

Youth Entrepreneurship, Aipan Art, Startup Success: Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand is witnessing a remarkable story of determination and innovation. A young student has shown that traditional art forms can become powerful tools for self employment and entrepreneurship when combined with the right guidance and vision. Mansi Kapri, a BBA student from Lakshman Singh Mahar Government Post Graduate College in Pithoragarh, has emerged as a shining example for aspiring entrepreneurs across the state.

Turning Passion into a Purpose

Since childhood, Mansi had a deep interest in Aipan art, one of Uttarakhand’s most cherished traditional folk art forms. While many view such art as a cultural practice, Mansi saw an opportunity to preserve tradition while creating a livelihood. Her entrepreneurial journey began in 2024 when she participated in a bootcamp organized under the Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana, an initiative aimed at encouraging students to become job creators rather than job seekers.

A Training Program that Changed Everything

The entrepreneurship bootcamp provided Mansi with a platform to shape her ideas into a practical business model. During the training, she learned how to present her concept using a Business Model Canvas. Her innovative approach received appreciation from the evaluation panel and earned her selection for advanced entrepreneurship training. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in her journey.

Learning the Fundamentals of Business

As part of the entrepreneurship development program, Mansi received hands on training in branding, packaging, marketing, online sales, and business operations. These skills helped her understand how a creative talent can be transformed into a sustainable enterprise. The program equipped her with the confidence and knowledge required to take her venture to the market.

Birth of Homies Vibes

Armed with new skills and a clear vision, Mansi launched her startup Homies Vibes. The venture focuses on bringing traditional Aipan art to modern consumers through creative and contemporary products. By blending cultural heritage with modern design and marketing techniques, she has successfully introduced local art to a wider audience while creating new economic opportunities.

Seed Funding Accelerates Growth

A major milestone came in February 2025 when Homies Vibes was selected during a Startup Mega Event and received seed funding of Rs 75000. This financial support allowed Mansi to expand her product range and strengthen marketing efforts. The funding also validated the potential of her business idea and encouraged her to aim even higher.

Today, Homies Vibes has achieved an annual sales figure of nearly Rs 80000 and continues to grow steadily. The startup has gained appreciation at the local level and is increasingly being recognized as an example of how traditional skills can be transformed into successful business ventures. Mansi’s work demonstrates that innovation does not always require new inventions. Sometimes it begins with rediscovering cultural roots in a modern way.
