Massive Turnout in the First Few Days

The beginning of Char Dham Yatra 2026 has witnessed an extraordinary response from devotees. Within just three days of opening, more than one lakh pilgrims visited Kedarnath Dham alone, highlighting the immense spiritual pull of the shrine. Similarly, Badrinath Dham also saw a large number of devotees soon after its gates opened, indicating a strong and steady flow of pilgrims across the circuit.

The Char Dham Yatra officially began in April with the opening of Yamunotri and Gangotri on April 19, followed by Kedarnath on April 22 and Badrinath on April 23.
Every year, this pilgrimage starts during the summer months and continues till early winter, as heavy snowfall makes the region inaccessible during colder months.

Rising Popularity and Registration Numbers

The scale of the yatra continues to grow each year. For 2026, nearly 19 lakh pilgrims had already registered even before the journey began, showing the increasing enthusiasm among devotees.
In previous years too, the Char Dham Yatra has attracted millions, with over 50 lakh pilgrims participating in recent seasons, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in India.
