CM Dhami Attends Silver Jubilee of Forest Development Corporation, Focus on Ecology and Economy Balance

Uttarakhand forest development, silver jubilee event, eco economy: Marking a significant milestone, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the silver jubilee celebration of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation in Dehradun. The event celebrated 25 years of the corporation’s journey, highlighting its contribution to forest management, economic growth, and environmental conservation in the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand’s forests are not just natural resources but a vital part of the state’s identity and future. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance between ecology, economy, and technology, ensuring that development does not come at the cost of environmental sustainability.

Key Announcements and New Initiatives

During the celebration, CM Dhami announced the opening of a new Forest Development Corporation office in the Kumaon region to strengthen operations. He also directed officials to bring a proposal for installing bee boxes in forest areas to promote beekeeping and enhance rural livelihoods. Additionally, a mobile application named Himkasth was launched to facilitate timber sales and enable online auctions of forest products, marking a step towards digital transparency.

The event was not only about policy and planning but also about celebrating people. The Chief Minister felicitated children of corporation employees who scored above 75 percent in their board examinations, encouraging academic excellence and motivating young achievers.

Role of the Corporation in State Development

Over the years, the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation has played a key role in scientific forest management, sustainable use of forest produce, and promotion of eco tourism. It has also contributed to the supply of certified timber and removal of dry and damaged trees, supporting both ecological balance and economic activity. The corporation reported significant financial performance, including a net profit of around 167 crore rupees in the previous year.
