DM and SSP Conduct City Inspection on Motorcycle, Issue Strict Directives for Traffic Management in Dehradun

*Dehradun:- To improve the traffic system of Dehradun, District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh jointly inspected the city today while riding on a motorcycle. They traveled from the DM residence to the Clock Tower on a single bike, where they reviewed the situation regarding traffic congestion and parking arrangements.

Inspection of Paltan Bazaar and Strict Orders Against Encroachment

The DM and SSP walked through Paltan Bazaar from the Clock Tower, inspecting the area. The DM issued strict instructions to keep the bazaar free from encroachment and directed that small parking spots be identified. Additionally, he gave orders to explore the possibilities of constructing foot overbridges and removing structures responsible for causing traffic jams in the city.

Warning to Agencies Regarding Road Conditions

During the inspection, the DM sternly warned agencies involved in sewer and drinking water line works to immediately repair the roads they have dug up. He emphasized that future work permissions will only be granted once the previous roadwork is rectified. He also warned that any negligence in road repairs will result in strict action against the responsible officials.

Review of Traffic and Waterlogging from Clock Tower to Ballupur Chowk

The DM reviewed traffic and waterlogging issues at key points, including Bindal Chowk, Ballupur Chowk, and Balliwala Chowk. He gave instructions to prepare an effective action plan to resolve these problems. The city has been divided into four zones, and the DM will conduct surprise inspections to ensure timely resolution of issues in each zone.

Pink Booths and Special Facilities for Women

The DM instructed the installation of Pink Booths at Paltan Bazaar and CMI Chowk to ensure women’s safety. He also ordered the construction of a dedicated Pink Toilet for women in Paltan Bazaar.

Steps Towards Improving Traffic in the City

To address the ongoing traffic and waterlogging issues in Dehradun, DM Savin Bansal assured that the future action plan will be prepared based on public suggestions and input from respected public representatives. Police Superintendent (City) Pramod Kumar, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Traffic Superintendent Mukesh Kumar, and Police Circle Officer Anuj Kumar, along with other officials, were present during the inspection.
