Kumbh Mela 2027, Haridwar preparations, infrastructure planning: As Uttarakhand gears up for the grand celebration of Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar, preparations have now entered an active phase. In a crucial step towards ensuring smooth execution, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a high level meeting with concerned departments and officials to review the progress and readiness for the mega religious event.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary expressed strong concern over delays in issuing approvals and government orders related to construction works. He directed all departments to speed up the process and complete pending formalities within three days. The emphasis was clear that no delay would be tolerated in projects linked to the Kumbh preparations.

Focus on Land Allocation and Infrastructure Development

A major focus of the meeting was on land acquisition and allocation for various facilities. Officials were instructed to initiate the process immediately and ensure that land is allotted to departments by the end of June. This step is crucial for timely construction of infrastructure and proper planning of the Kumbh area.

Considering the massive influx of devotees expected during the Kumbh, special attention was given to traffic management. Authorities have been asked to prepare a joint traffic plan involving railways and road transport. Plans include improving connectivity from key routes like Haridwar, Najibabad, and Manglaur, along with expanding parking facilities in nearby districts.

The Chief Secretary also directed the preparation of a dedicated sanitation plan for the entire Kumbh area. With lakhs and crores of pilgrims expected, ensuring cleanliness and proper waste management is being treated as a top priority. Instructions were also given to establish adequate tourist information centers and ensure basic amenities like food, toilets, and resting areas for visitors.

Cultural Programs to Showcase Uttarakhand Identity

Beyond infrastructure, the meeting also highlighted the importance of cultural representation. Plans are underway to organize cultural programs showcasing Uttarakhand’s folk traditions, art, and heritage. These events will not only enrich the spiritual experience of pilgrims but also promote the state’s cultural identity on a global stage.
