New Delhi:Ekta Bisht: In 2017, women’s cricket in India gained significant recognition. The Indian team reached the World Cup final. Although they couldn’t cross the final hurdle, they crafted a remarkable story of their rise. Previously, India had also reached the Women’s World Cup final in 2004.

Following 2017, the women’s team also made it to the final of the 2020 T20 World Cup. Mithali Raj has been instrumental in introducing Indian cricket to the world, with Jhulan Goswami being another notable player. Many outstanding players have played for India before them, but these players have learned and led Indian cricket to success. Both players aspire to win the World Cup.

When discussing cricket in India, men’s cricket often comes to mind first, but women’s cricket has never lagged behind. The first double century in ODI cricket was scored not by Sachin Tendulkar, but by Australia’s Belinda Clark, who scored 239 runs against Denmark in 1997. Similarly, the first hat-trick in Indian T20 cricket was achieved by a woman, not a man. Ekta Bisht, from Almora district in Uttarakhand, achieved this feat against Sri Lanka in 2012. Deepak Chahar took a T20 hat-trick seven years later, in 2019, against Bangladesh in Nagpur. Ekta Bisht has been playing cricket for India since 2011.
