For the First Time, District Magistrate Engages Directly with Dengue and Malaria Warriors, Boosts Morale of ASHA Workers

Dehradun: For the first time, District Magistrate Savin Bansal directly engaged with field personnel, including ASHA workers and environmental friends, who are working at ground zero to combat dengue and malaria in Dehradun. The purpose of the program was to understand the challenges faced by these frontline warriors and to find solutions. During the session, the District Magistrate encouraged all the personnel, stating that they are leaders in their respective areas, and should take pride in carrying out their responsibilities with dedication. He also assured that the administration will address their issues promptly.

Field Workers Given a New Identity:

The District Magistrate remarked, “Field workers are always frontline warriors. Just as ASHA workers and environmental friends played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, today they are fulfilling an equally important role as dengue and malaria warriors.” He emphasized that the active work of these personnel in the field sends a positive message to the community.

Plans to Build ASHA Homes in Dehradun, Following the Nainital Model:

In response to the challenges faced by ASHA workers, the District Magistrate announced that the administration will implement a plan to build ASHA homes and dormitories in government hospitals in Dehradun, similar to the initiative in Nainital. He assured that funding will not be an issue for this project. This initiative will provide accommodation facilities for ASHA workers and pregnant women accompanying them to the hospitals, reducing unnecessary hardships. The ASHA workers applauded this announcement.

Timely Resolution of Issues:

The District Magistrate instructed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that there are no delays in the payments to ASHA workers and other field personnel. He also directed an increase in facilities and staffing to resolve any outstanding issues. Additionally, officials from the Municipal Corporation and Health Department were urged to promptly address the concerns of field personnel.

Senior Officials in Attendance:

The program was attended by Chief Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Jain, and other senior officials. All the dignitaries appreciated the District Magistrate’s initiative for this direct dialogue and problem-solving session.
