Uttarakhand cabinet decisions, Dhami government, New schemes: Soon after the cabinet expansion the Uttarakhand government held its first full cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, where several important decisions were taken. A total of 16 key proposals were approved during the meeting signaling a strong push towards administrative reforms, employee welfare and development focused policies. The meeting also marked the first participation of newly inducted ministers in decision making.
Major Boost for Self Employment and Ex Servicemen
One of the most significant decisions was the approval of the Veer Udyam Yojana aimed at supporting ex servicemen and former Agniveers. Under this scheme 10 percent of the target in self employment initiatives will be reserved for them along with an additional 5 percent subsidy. This move is expected to encourage entrepreneurship and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to veterans.
Relief and Benefits for Employees and Departments
The cabinet also approved several employee welfare measures including soft loans of up to 10 lakh rupees for judicial department employees at low interest rates. In another key reform the minimum service period for certain senior posts in the forest department was reduced from 25 years to 22 years. These steps aim to improve efficiency and provide relief to government staff.
Focus on Infrastructure Education and Governance Reforms
Important decisions were taken in sectors like public works, education and governance. Approval was given for consultancy projects above one crore rupees in the public works department while a subcommittee will study issues related to aided schools in the education sector. The cabinet also cleared rules related to home guards and administrative training indicating a broader push towards institutional strengthening.
Agriculture Procurement and Subsidy Related Decisions
The government fixed targets for procurement under the food and civil supplies department including a goal of 2.2 lakh metric tonnes. It was also decided that mandi fees on wheat and paddy procurement will remain capped ensuring support to farmers. Subsidy related provisions under schemes like solar energy were also discussed and approved.
Strict Laws and Policy Framework Strengthened
The cabinet approved the implementation of rules under the Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Recovery Act which will ensure strict action against damage to public property. Along with this new administrative and legal frameworks were cleared to strengthen governance and improve accountability across departments.
