The expedition was led by Lieutenant Colonel Manoj Joshi, a resident of Naini Vihar, Haldwani. World’s Largest Everest Expedition Team
According to Lieutenant Colonel Manoj Joshi, the expedition has become the largest team in the world to reach the summit of Mount Everest, setting a new global benchmark. The record stands as a powerful symbol of the Indian Army’s courage, discipline, and indomitable spirit, reinforcing its reputation on the international adventure and mountaineering stage.
49-Member Team Hoists the Tricolour
The historic expedition comprised 49 members, including 22 Indian Army mountaineers and 27 Nepali Sherpas. The climb was conducted under the Indian Army Silver Jubilee Everest Expedition. The team departed from India in mid-April 2025 and reached Everest Base Camp on April 23. After successfully completing acclimatization across Camp-1 to Camp-4 amid extreme cold, harsh winds, and challenging terrain, the team achieved the summit on May 27, proudly unfurling the Indian tricolour atop the world’s highest peak.
